Title:                          Infrastructure Specialist – AISMiddleware

Level:                        Senior Technical Analyst

Department:                ServiceManagement and Application Infrastructure Services (AIS)

Reports to:                 TBC

Location:                    Dalian

Purpose of your role

The Senior Technical Analyst, AIS – Middleware willbe responsible for providing Level-1 technical and project support services forthe FIL wide enterprise. Typically this will include supporting the Applicationand Web server infrastructure and connected supporting technologies. Thisinvolves identifying production / pre-production issues before they occur,working on incidents, problems tickets, service requests and change relatedactivities.

The role demands strong technical skills with apro-active focus to ensure maximumuptime of the Web and Application Serverinfrastructure. The role involves working as a member of a global team with afollow the sun model.

The role will involve providing 24x7 support aspart of a team rota and some weekend working.

The common written and spoken language of theworldwide team is English.

Your key accountabilities

The key responsibilities of this role are:

·        Support of the Application Server and Web Serverinfrastructure for     all FIL environments

·        Supporting the release of new code and artefacts toenvironments     during business and non-business hours.

·        Liaison with vendors for product related  issues

·        Rapid response to / and escalation of high  severityincidents

·        Proactive issue detection / service monitoring

·        Service restoration subsequent to anyunanticipated outages / disruptions

·        Incident management, root cause analysis,  problemdetermination and resolution

·        Provision of technical support on a shift /on call / rotational basis

·        Escalation as necessary to secure assistance/  technical guidance from other technology teams

·        Automation and process improvement

Your skills and experience

·        Extensive  experience of supportingApplication and Web Servers in a commercial environment

·        Good UNIX and scripting skills

·        Previous experience of providing technicalsupport in a global operating   

·        Proven experience of working within a fastmoving and flexible environment

·        All round interest in middleware and webtechnologies

Personal Skills:

·        Good   analytical and problem solvingskills

·        Excellent    inter-personalskills, including oral and written communication

·        A  good team worker, but also able tooperate independently

·        Ability  to prioritise and co-ordinatetheir own work activities.

·        Ability  to adapt to changing businessneeds

Technical expertise:

Aminimum of 3 years of real work experience ina complex applicationin frastructure support environment.

·        Good experience of supporting IBM Web Sphere ApplicationServer                           

·        Knowledge of IBM I.H.S Web Server (or Apache)

·        Experience setting up and managing MQ orJMS     connections with an Application Server

·        Working knowledge of JBoss and WebLogic    beneficial

·        Broad     understanding ofmajor Operating Systems including RHEL, AIX, Solaris and    Windows

·        An understanding     ofDatabase technologies

·        Exposure     to UNIX andshell scripting

Education: University graduate in a relevantsubject
